When I tried to post the following I am told as above

I have had a vehicle stolen and recovered fairly quickly in a basically undamaged state. The locks are being changed and the car is being cleaned. The car was driven about the distance to where it was found according to my satellite navigation. Keys stolen from the house at 5:20am and car driven away. I am about to change my car (was going to before it was stolen) I am now told by a police friend that it will be worth considerably less because of the ‘Stolen Recovered’ status. My insurance company has not offered any compensation!!! Is anyone aware how this situation stands. Any advice would be appreciated.

Insurance Policy do not normally include "Consequental Loss" eg the devaluation of your vehicle folllowing it being stolen and recovered. They pay out for the physical damage eg the repairs to the car or if it is not recovered for the cost of replacing it.

Incidently if your Insurer has not written off your vehicle eg they have just repaired it then they do not normally inform the DVLA so a buyer will probably not be able to find out it has been stolen and recovered.

if the vehicle is not written off as a result of the theft and just repaired then it is not recorded anywhere and should still be worth the same as similar motors
