We looked at bikes in Halfords but it was impossible to get served. We bought a discounted Raleigh bike somewhere else in the end. They do occasionally have good 3 for the price of 2 promos on wax and polish though.

I found the till staff very friendly, but I do find the lack of staff to ask for help rat5her annoying. I do try to avoid there where possible but they do have a large range of products much of which you cant source locally

You piad £5.00 to fit a bulb? its no wonder cowboys like Halfrauds stay in business, you could of asked on a forum for nowt or looked in your owners manual (if you have one)

5 quid sorry this ones baffled me, well worth it ? yeah ok then :rotfl:

    :D

I have all the technological expertise of a dead aardavark. It didn't look all that easy even for an expert, to be honest - there was lots of muffled swearing and trapped fingers.

For *me* it was worth every penny - you can keep your patronising attitude to yourself :rotfl:

The last time I changed a headlight bulb, I read the manual and did exactly what it said but the plug on the back wouldn't budge. The coolant reservoir had a pointless sticky-out bit that mashed up the back of my hand and didn't leave enough room for me to get a good grip. When I did finally get it off with the aid of a big wrench to squeeze it with, it took another age to get the bulb sat it the right position and the metal clip hooked into place as I couldn't see what I was doing due to the design of the light and the other things in the way.
For the bloomin' awkward ones, £5 is maybe worth paying.

I changed my rear bulbs on Ford Focus and number plate light as one of them was dodgy and corroded

Might be harder problem on Focus when it comes to main front lights. I remember hearing that halfords wont touch them as its a 30 min job

Halfords have always had rubbish customer service. I find that hovering by the SatNav show case is usually the best way to attract staff attention, and then you can guide them over to the £2.99 windscreen wiper aisle...

ps - I'm a girl and even I can change my car headlights, and will NOT pay £5 for them to do it. :)

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Try changing the bulb in a new corsa, its a front bumper off job, and a vw polo needs the airbox taking out i believe, not all cars are that easy to change these days.
After changing the girlfriends corsa bulb id happily of paid the £5 though i believe the corsa would be another car halfords wont touch.

Yup, on many it's a git to change the passenger side headlight as you cannot get the cover off the back of the light due to the battery holder being in the way. Yeah, there's a few time consuming ways to do it ... in the end I got the Dremmel out (knew I'd use it eventually) and lopped a chunk out of the battery holder.

I must be lucky with my local Halfords, there's usually a few staff around but during the week you're still limited to 1 person on the till most of the time. I am a little biased though as I got about £200 off the RRP of my mountain bike thanks to a sale and some haggling ;-) (ok, RRPs rarely mean anything but it was still a good deal)

Went to Halfrauds for a rear windscreen wiper for my car: £18.99 (+£3 to fit). I thought I'd shop around.....I found the same item in my local Autoparts shop for £6.49.
