Barclays Bank Account

Hi all

I called and applied for the Barclays Bank Account yesterday and the lasy on the phone told me it was all accepted ok.

She seemed somewhat in a rush though and at the end of the call I was left wishing I had asked a few more questions. Can anyone answer any of the following for me:

1. How long can I expect to wait for details of the account to be sent to me?

2. What type of card will I get with this account by default?

3. How long will I need to wait before I can apply for a small overdraft?

2. a debit card
3.should be able to immediatly after they confirm at it is all set up but remember its charged at 17.9% EAR

1. You will be notified normally within 5 working days.

2. It's a Connect card (Visa debit) dependent on your credit score it may well have a cheque guarantee facility on it. This will either be £50, £100, or £250

3.Straight away.

I called Barclays today as when I went through the application I told the advisor I wanted the bacic current account. I wanted to check thay had not misunderstood me to mean the Cash Card account.

Anyway the lady on the phone told me I would need to go to my local branch and tell them to look on 'CID' or 'SID'. I am baffled by this, why couldn't she just tell me what had been applied for.

Anyone with Barclays experience shed any light on this??
