Land War, need advice.

I cant find any catagory for this so im putting it here as it might be nearest place to fit this problem into.
I live on an estate, some houses are detatched with their own drive and garage some are semi's with garages and there are a few terraced houses that have communal car parks to the near with either own build garages or plots for garages to be built.
Basically you have to drive into the little car park and the plots or garages are around the perimeter. Over the years some people have sold on their garages or plots to other people, some might not even live where the plots are. Anyway, we bought our house a few years ago and unfortunatley we did not have a garage space, this was because the space was sold off to another person before we even bought the house, so i just park my car outside my back gate. This does not cause any problems to anyone, infact there is another home a few doors away that is in the same position, they do not have a garage or garage space either as it was sold off to someone else as well, so like me they park their car outside their back gate.
Now, we have this person who seems to think that a peice of this land belongs to them, again its just around the perimeter and if anyone parks there we have this person out claimimg the land is mine etc and do not park there, its not in any way blocking or causing any obstructions to anyone who parks there, but for some reason this individual says it belongs to them.
I have spoken to this person and told them that if they show proof that the area is actually owned by them I for one will not park there in future. now the problem is that up to now this person has shown no proof so we are basically having a land war.
My question is how can i find out myself who owns what and where. It seems strange that someone can claim a piece of communal car park.

All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

Who pays for the upkeep of the communal area? Are all the owners of the garages jointly responsible? If they are it looks like they all own it, because somebody does..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Maybe the local council planning office may have plans.
When your bought your house, what was shown on your deed plans, if any thing, relating to the back gate area, and general access?

The UK Land Registry should be able to give you a definitive answer for - if I read their website correctly - £3.
