Smeg appliances, are they worth the money

I love the look of Smeg fridge freezers,, washing machines and dishwashers.

the washing machine was reviewed by which and although they didnt rave about it they didnt say it was a load of rubbish either, so I wouldnt mind one of them.

I love the fridge freezers (fridge on top) but which havent reviewed them and in any case they are soooo expensive.

Id like a red one. has anyone managed to get a cheap smeg anywhere, if so how. or has anyone managed to get something that looks like smeg which is good quality.

i do specifically want a red fridge freezer as it has to go in the dining area of the the kitchen diner, am i mad to be choosing the colour over the make and quality??? or are there some good value ones out there, i dont mind going up to about 600 quid

All my appliances are Miele - with the exception of the cooker which is John Lewis - I appreciate that they don't look that much like Smeg but they do have that sort of retro feel and the fridge we have (can't for the life of me think of the model) is bigger than a smeg but also has the handles. And you could always get fridge spray paint from B&Q and customise it

never heard anything but bad things about smeg fridge freezers - components breaking, seals snapping off and leaks ruining floors etc. how about gorenje? they are about half the price and they do one in (dark) red.

I am sorry to say that our smeg fridge/freezer has been nothing but trouble from the start. They replaced our first one but the second is the same.

The freezer keeps freezing to much solid ice everywhere! The fridge can't seem to stay one temp one minute it is ok then the next is is freezing our food.

The door trays are easily broken too.

It's a lot of money just for a fridge they aren't as good quality as they used to be when they first manufactured them in my opinion.

I would go with a german make miele or something.

Our Smeg dishwasher was dreadful. We had many problems & it finally gave up the ghost completely after 2-1/2 problematic years.

Now been replaced with a Miele which has been faultless for the first year of its life.

However, we love our Smeg cooker which has given 5 years of faithfull service.

oh,,, so its a case of style over content, thats a shame, maybe i should just accept that its going to be a bad idea.

i like that gorenje,,, i wonder what their reliability etc is like, ive never heard of them. i also like that baumatic too...

Some of the Gorenje stuff is lovely,I believe they make retro refrigeration for other companies,I know it's not Miele because Leibherr make all of theirs,except one model.
