Am on latest Firefox,(?), Previously I clicked on Bookmarks > Organise Bookmarks > File > Export, save wherever, but on the edition I have,(not sure which one but pretty sure it will be the latest), there is no File, what I get is, Bookmarks . Organise Bookmarks >, I then get a "Library" window giving "All Book marks, Unsorted Bookmarks, Bookmarks toolbar, when I select all blokmarks and save to desktop nothing happens, i.e. it doesn't save to desktop, what am I doing wrong?

To check your FF version its help/about mine is 3.0.10 and I think it is the latest as it only updated the other day.

I don't use browser bookmarks but checking mine out bookmarks/organise bookmarks throw up a window which has import and backup on its top bar.

... and you can check which version of FF you have by going to Help > About Mozilla Firefox. Latest version I believe is 3.0.10

I use Foxmarks (http://www.foxmarks.com/) it allows you to save and synchronise bookmarks using an online account.

I had forgot all about that, I have it installed and have just accessed it :o

But I would still like to know how to back up from the computer, as I could do it before one of the updates as I explained in my OP.

have a look at your desktop from my computer, in other words start,my computer, then click on desktop and see if they appear, forgot to add if you cant see anything from my computer try showing hidden files to see if it appears, then rehide when finished

Nothing about the desktop in "my computer".

ok if you click on start and go to my computer in xp you will see your files listed, at the top click on tools, folder options, view tab and then put a tick in show hidden files and folders.

    This is already ticked.

from my computer in xp you can see at the top left the desktop icon, but you must be in folder view, you can be in folder view by clciking the big icon called folders at the top.

Cannot see anywhere a desktop icon. There is no big icon called folders!

vista youll have to navigate differently i would post a link but i cant yet as im not old enough or summet .lol

Am using XP, so no need for vista.

I have managed to get a copy onto the desktop by copying from Foxmarks and placing in a Word document then placing on desktop, but there must be an easier way than that! There was before one of the updates as I have done it previously!
