Not enthusiastic about dress shopping - am I mad?

I didn't try on any dresses. I know very well what suits my body type and what sort of requirements I had, so I looked online and found something I loved. And I ordered it, for 90 pounds including shipping, and once it was in my possession, on my body and fully laced up the back it was perfect. It had to be shortened, but it was absolutely stunning and I was delighted both that it was gorgeous and that I didn't have to spend any time in wedding dress shops doing something I didn't want to deal with.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Leave it a few months until you lose the weight you want to lose.
When you go and try on dresses DON'T let on what your exact budget is, concentrate more on finding the style of dress you like first.
I never tried on any dresses, my mum would have liked to go dress shopping with me, but I'm quite shy and prancing about in different dresses wasn't for me. I knew what style I was going for, so ordered through Landy and I love my dress on. Also, even though I have seen loads of dresses since I bought mine, I have never regretted choosing my one.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I was really dreading the idea of dress shopping - I hate trying clothes on (not happy with my figure) and I hate people fussing over me - so the whole ide sounded awful!
When I got there, the owner of the shop pointed out which rails contained which type of dresses/which price ranges and left me to have a look through. Once I was actually laced into the first one I couldn't believe how amazing I looked - curves in all the right places
I'd say it's worth trying a few (only take in 3 or 4 if you think you'll get downhearted) - and if you hate it then leave it a bit longer. Generally if you like a specific designer, the shop can tell you how far in advance you need to order.Nobody I'd rather be

I was the same and I am not sure why asI love to be the centre of attention so this was weird for me I didnt want my mum to come with me incase she started to get emotional, I arranged it all last minute and went with one friend I only tried on 2 dresses and I had had enough! Ordered mine from Islandelegance.Loves Vegas shopping and beauty products!0

i think youll be surprised at how many dresses wedding shops stock, that are under £300. Yes you can go up to £1000s, but the majority are around the £300 mark, so dont feel you will be laughed out the shop

Thank you for all the replies.
I dont think the main issue is with my body, the fact I still have weight to lose and i dont want to spend £s on getting the dress altered is a factor, i'm just not giddy about the whole thing.
before me and h2b were even thinking about marriage, i used to get really giddy about the possibility of one day trying on these gorgeous dresses. Maybe its sinking in im actually getting married? I dont know, either way its got to be done.
I suppose i can afford to put it off another month or two though hey!!0 -
Yea I feel the same with that! I've dreamed for years of how excited I will be when engage and trying on these dresses and feeling like a princess. But im not excited hardly at all. I'm far more scared that than I ever thought I would be. And I stood in front of a mirror in a dress thinking is this really real? And almost feeling like I didn't deserve to be in that dress and that it was all wrong if that makes any sense. I guess because I'm doing this before booking or viewing venues means that its not real for me yet. Once things get moving maybe I will get more excited. I just dunno whats wrong with me!!0
