You just need to complete the updates. It's one of the symbols in the bottom right (near the time).

It does take ages to complete, though

MSN updated the protocol used so you need to update the program used. It should do it for you if you check for updates. Are you using Ubuntu as update manger is under system>administrator>update manager

I have an Acer Aspire One. He's called George. The updates do work, but really do take ages. And then you'll have to restart.

Seriously I recommend you take it back pay a few quid more and get the xp version (hard disk version best rather than ssd as they are reported slow). I got the linux aa one and immediately put xp on it using nlite which cuts the footprint and it works very well. The extra money spent will be paid back in time saved whilst faffing with linux imo.

And of course there's no "faffing" with Windows. There certainly aren't 6 or 7 posts on the first page of this forum alone concerning problems with it.

Sorry don't buy that - if linux were as popular as windows you'd have similar number of issues reported - op systems go wrong - period it's just a numbers game.millions more windows installations are bound to give more problems. I use linux too btw so not anti just think on the aao it's a bad experience all round.

Windows has more than its fair share. For example, Mac OS X has about a tenth of the market share of Windows, so one could reasonably assume that 1 out of every 10 computer problems on here would be with a Mac. It doesn't work out that way though.

It's only a bad experience if you don't know what you're doing, which can be said for any OS really.

The Linux version on the Aspire One is lousy it has to be admitted. But if you can get it for considerably less than the XP version then it is worth the little bit of extra pain to get to know it.
