Majorca - Can I dip my toe in?!!

Hi,

We are off to on our first family holiday to Majorca on the 7th May with our 3 year old and 6 month old. Does anyone know if the sea will be warm enough to go in - our little boy can't wait to go in the sea but now beginning to wonder if it will be too cold for him.

Thanks for any advice!

The sea will feel cold at first, but it's not too bad! - just remember it'll be a bloody site warmer than the sea at home!! (won't make your toes numb!)

Hiya, I think it will be t.shirt and shorts wether but not hot enough to stay around the pool in cossy. This may be better for your young children than the heat. You could prehaps have a dip in the pool/sea and then get out and put a short sleeved t.shirt on to get warm. If you like smimming in May you will need to travel a bit further to the Canaries, Turkey or Cyprus. Have a great break and do post your experiances/tips for others when you return.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
  • BBC weather give a 5 day forecast. If you check on the 6th, you will get a better idea of the weather in Majorca. At the moment it ranges from 19-20c.

We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

We were in Majorca from the 10th-24th April and it was definetly shorts and t-shirt weather most days.We never went in the sea but sunbathed around the pool on numerous days and came back with great tans.
I checked the forecast before we went and the weather was alot warmer once there than the forecast had mentioned.

  • i think it to do with different climates:confused: i went to cyprus in jan and eevryone was very tanned yet i went out on two days and it had snowed but it was still warm:eek:
i think weather feels different abroad if that makes sense:confused: i dont know why but ive found devon will give me sunburn no matter how much lotion i put on yet ive been to greece, tunisia, dominican republic and never been burnt! actually lived in the dominican republic for nearly a year and never had sunburn yet its a lot closer to the equator, mind you to be fair i never laid out in the sun much as kept getting bit by mosquitos
im sure about the sea temp in majorca but ive been to lots of the greek islands at that time of year and its usually been baking and spent a lot of time with kids just playing on the beach just chilling. hopefully it will not be too chlly just nice i should think.

Thanks for all your replies - I guess we will only know when we get there! If it's too cold I'm sure there must be other things to keep them entertained!!!

    Thanks again

We go to Majorca at the end of May / early June most years and get an average of around 25c. My brother is out there now and says it is warmer than he thought it would be at around 19 - 20.

I find the sea a little cold but my kids love it.

We went to Majorca for a weekend on 3rd April and there were plenty of kids in the sea. I went in for a little bit and once you got over the initial drop in temperature it was fine.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.
