Astra est 03 alternator

My power steering had gone today and it turns out my alternator has gone. I have been told that the alternator will cost 180 quid at cost plus labour. does this seem a fair price as I don't have a clue. The car is a 03 astra est 1.7 dt can anyone advise

    The alternator has nothing to do with power steering, the only possible connection is the drive belt.
    This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

    It will be the alternator as Vauxhalls and Saab's have electric PAS. They have a common problem with duff alternators. Get a recon one fitted for about £50 :)

    find someone who rep[airs them via yellow pages. OR if you are handy enough with a set of spanners, buy one from ebay and fit yourself.
    Yet another !!!!!! problem with the !!!!!! Saab 9-3. Saab really have discgraced themselvs with this model...!
