what is mobile boadband?

can some one please explain mobile broadband please

i need a pay as you go broadband for laptop, but the few ive looked at are named vodafone or 3 ect which are phone names do they have to be connected to yr mobile (which i dont want) and how do you top them up. which is the cheapest and best?

Eh?

Vodafone and 3 are mobile networks, they are not 'phones'. They bother offer phones and mobile broadband modems (not a phone).

Have you looked at their websites?

Well, I can use my mobile as a bluetooth modem so there you go

And so can I (and indeed have done) however that doesn't make it what is known and marketed as mobile broadband - so there:p

OP my understanding of mobile broadband is where you attach something that looks like a USB stick into your laptop that enables you to connect to a broadband service when you are out and about. Most if not all mobile phone networks will offer this, although Vodaphone were one of the first networks to offer this kind of service. Originally it was available through a contract only, but now you can get PAYG too.

It doesn't have anything to do with a mobile phone even though the service is provided by the mobile phone networks - mobile in this situation means out and about with your laptop.
