Halifax Credit Card PPI

Hi All,
I have been in the process of reclaiming PPi on a Halifax Credit Card, today I received a letter stating that they were going to 'put me in a position as if I had never had the product' plus the statutory interest. However there was no mention of an amount to be paid, does anyone have experience of the length of time it takes them to do the maths and send out a cheque?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there
This seems to be the norm.
I would ask them to send you a Full written breakdown of calculations to show how they have worked the figures out, you should be entitled to these on request.
So what they are stating is, that you should receive back Every Penny of the PPI plus interest as if you did not take this out from the start.;)
Well done.:T:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
The time scale is about a month, but it is normally done a earlier than this. Halifax have to wait for Card Services to go through all your statements and calculate the refund.
You will get back a refund of all premiums paid, interest paid on these premiums and 8% interest. If you are in arrears/over your credit limit any refund will be used to reduce or clear these arrears and the surplus will be paid to you by cheque.
When card services have completed their calculation you will get another letter with the figures you will receive. The cheque is sent under separate cover.0 -
Sounds like a good result for you! Enjoy it - I ahd to take them to court to get cash back from them following letters that passed between us for about a year. You've done really well :-)Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0

Hello
Just wondered - we have closed the Halifax CC account now but were getting charged extortionate Payment Protection on it when we used it!!! We are going to claim a refund as my partner never gets insurance on anything but it was on our statements for months!! How long did the process take you??
We are fed up paying through the nose for everything!!!!!!!! 2009 is our year of change, read one of Martins books and feel inspired!!!!!Slowly but surely we are getting there??!!
3 refunds & 1 loan finished! 1 PPI waiting, Car finished! loan/school/no childcare£ (-1.5 years & counting!!)....
Im doing as many competitions as poss! Try & keep positive & If you dont ask, you dont get!

Hi Again,
Thanks for the replies, I am over the moon with the response from Halifax obviously, its hard not to get impatient when you don't know what the figure for the refund is...
In answer to the last question, It has taken 6 weeks to get this far, which by the sounds of it is a really short period of time for Halifax, it took 8 weeks for them to admit fault on the charges aswell so was surprised to hear anything in under 8 weeks without chasing them.0 -
I had the same letter on Saturday from Halifax. Stating that they would re-imburse me every penny of PPI plus the 8%. I wasn't given a figure either but whatever it is it's a welcome bonus to me0

Does anyone know how you find out how much PPI you have paid if you dont have all your statements, is there a team that can tell you or is it a matter of waiting0

Hi I had the same letter from Lloydds and accepted the offer and within a week they had credited back £5K and we still have a further £2K to be given back. This was on premiums of literally just over £4K - just goes to show that this can work !!! :-) Seems to be the norm that they can't / won't give the breakdown until after you have accepted and the calculations made which seems rather underhanded but I am just glad that we have got our money back and they are reviewing the old credit card accounts that we had with them.
I hope that it isn't too long for you :-)0 -

Hi Frank
You need to write to request a full written breakdown of this..
Another way really is to request a Subject Access Request (SAR), but the first option is free and the SAR is £10 cheque/postal order, and it will take 40 days on this actual request.
I would personally ask them to send you a Full written breakdown through the post, good luck and any probs let us know.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Here's one for clarifying...my partner recently tried to activate PPI on both a loan and credit card (both with Bank of Scotland), and was told no longer eligible (because he was self employed)...so Martins templates were completed, and sent in. After letter 1 to credit card, they have admitted mis-selling the policy and will calculate/manipulate how much they are going to refund (we still await this). However the loan PPI claim is proving difficult - they are still insisting that he was eligible for the product when he took out the loan, but copies of application form show clearly he told the staff member he was self employed (his situation was exactly the same when he applied for both products). My question is, has HBOS completely contradicted itself? Surely if he was mis-sold one, then the other one was mis-sold too? Financial Ombudsman will be hearing from us soon!!!Gimme back my bank charges!!!!!0
