A&L - got into a mess with account

Hi, my OH opened a premier account that has a £10 monthly fee. He never paid anything in to it - A&L gave him £25 for opening the account, which they have taken in monthly charges.
They have continued to take £10 even though he asked by email that they change the account to a normal 'free' one. Consequently he's gone overdrawn - and they've stonked up £50 unauthorised overdraft charges. He's asked A&L, as he's never had any dealings with this account at all - can they waive the charges which they won't. Any suggestions? (yes I know it is a careless thing to have done... so don't need that pointing out thanks):o

I think he's signed a 12 month monimum agreement - why not move some money into the account to avoid the unauthorised fees?0

they have now changed it to an account with no fees - they just want him to pay the unauthorised overdraft fees.Bern :j0

You'll have to pay up then - I don't see any way around that. You admit yourself that the account has not been managed well, so you can't very well blame the bank for charging you.
Also, it's always a good idea to go into the branch if you want to make changes to the account (or at least phone them) rather than relying on email. You know then that your instructions are being acted upon.If you will the end, you must will the means.0
