Sync Over Range??????????????

Can anyone please help?

After finally getting broadband installed at home, the monitor died the same day, so had to buy a new one so we could finish setting up the net.

Have no idea what happened to the monitor, was working fine the day before the broadband man came, then wouldn't turn on at all.

Anyway, bought a new TFT monitor and every so often it turns itself off, displays "sync over range" and I can't get it to come back on without having to turn the PC off - which is rubbish as I can't see the PC to power it down properly so have to just turn it off on the tower!!!

Anyone have any ideas, or should I take it back to the shop and demand a refund/replacement???

Oh, it came with a new lead to connect it to the pc, so I don't think that could be the problem - but what else would make it lose it's connection with the pc???

Thanks in advance :T

  • Synchronization means the monitor is going out of range, I think it’s something to do with the hertz on the monitor.
The monitor should have already been set up to use, just an adjustment in the settings for your screen size and that’s all.
Just take it back to the shop and ask them to test it for you, if it faulty they wil replace it for you.
Normally its just adjusting the settings in the control panel. It may be you have to re adjust your hertz settings on the monitor to get it to work properly otherwise its back to the shop.
Someone else will be along shortly as I’m not too clued up on monitors.
I'm not poor i'm just skint

Check your video card... I had the same problem with my Old Geforce 4600 Ti when it was on its way out. It would make my monitor randomly switch off due to it increasing the Hz range too high. In fact I think this could actually break some old type monitors.

right click on your desktop, properties, settings, and try reducing the frequency (Hz), resolution, or colour depth..

If it continues, it could be a faulty monitor, or graphics card.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
