Hi
I have a W reg mazda 626 GLX. When I bought it through a private sale. It had already been converted to run on LPG as well as Petrol.
I spoke to somebody whose car was both petrol and electric and I was advised that he pays £9 a year car tax, and he advised me to seek advice as I should qualify for a lower rate duel fuel car tax, due to LPG producing less emissions.
How can I go about finding out if this is the case?
Or putting it into action?
Cheers

Hi
Firstly, when you bought the vehicle were you given a certificate which certifies the LPG system has been fitted correctly?
If you have got this form, you will need to contact the DVLA..vehicles are only registered under the relatively new "alternative fuel" taxation class if they were registered on or after 1st March 2001.
A friend of mine has a Dodge Ram pickup on LPG but because it also runs on petrol and was registered prior to 1st March 2001, it's taxed under the PLG class.
I very much doubt you're going to be eligible....but speak to the DVLA. The reason I mentioned the certificate, is because if they say you are eligible, you will need to produce the certificate at the DVLA local office along with your log book, MOT and insurance.
Hope this helps;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
