Advice Needed: Purchased car on ebay that did not match description

I purchased a car on ebay last week, spoke with the seller many times, requested additional photos, asked the seller to disclose any/all problems with the vehicle. When I arrived to pick-up the car, it didn't match the description at all, it was a pure lemon.
I took photographs of the car as proof and told the seller that I would not purchase the car because it did not match his description and photos - which did not show the true wear and tear of the vehicle.
I had to find my own way back home, and at my own expense. When I arrived home, I left negative feedback for the seller with an honest and fair description.
The seller has requested that we cancel the transaction. If I accept, does this mean that he will get his ebay fees refunded? I lost financially through this transaction, I would like to see the seller also lose. If I don't accept the seller's request to cancel the transaction, will my negative feedback be removed? What can I do?
Thanks

I sell cars on ebay, and always state "viewings are welcome and recommended". Did you view before bidding? If not, why not? One persons superb is another persons average.
Us car sellers try to describe as best as but may miss something unintentionally. Although there are some rogues out there admittedly.
If you live a long way away, bid on something closer.
Not having a pop at you but when it comes to cars...

I agree that it is important to view before you bid - I should mention that I was the only person who placed a bid - and at the very last minute - so it's not like the seller missed out on other buyers. I have purchased and sold many things on ebay and I felt that if I asked the seller a straightforward question, such as "is there any damage to the windshield" that he would have honestly answered that it had a crack. Or external damage - with dings. When I asked for additional photographs with specific detail, I should have been more suspicious when the seller's camera started playing up and the photos were dark and blury.
I purchase other things on ebay often and I don't get to view the items in person before purchasing, but I agree that buying a car is totally different than buying a piece of furniture. But if people sell cars on ebay, shouldn't it be a requirement that they disclose any and all damage in the same way as other products?
The seller was not willing to negotiate on the price to fix the problems, and he didn't seem that surprised when I told him that I wasn't willing to purchase the car because it did not match the decription. It seemed to me that he was intentionally dishonest.
I felt trapped because I had traveled there on the train and did not have a return ticket, and so that made getting home even more expensive.
I am feeling a bit disheartend with the whole ebay-car purchasing process because if I travel 2+ hours to view a car and I like it then I would like to purchase it then and there - not go back home and *hope* that I can win it on ebay... know what I mean?I :heart2: Waitrose0 -

And if I don't accept their mutual, will they be able to leave negative feedback for me?I :heart2: Waitrose0 -

Sellers can no longer leave a negative for buyers, so no he won't leave you a neg.
He may open up a NPB against you though. (I'm not sure if he can do both mutual and npb?)"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0 -
Surely this is a question of fact rather than opinion, you won so either you collect and pay or you agree to cancel.
I’d have thought if you don’t agree then seller could start a NPB and you’ll end up with a strike, not sure what happens to your feedback if this happens0 -
I thought it was either NPB or mutual. Didn't think you could do both.0
