Recently I posted a thread asking for a help as I missed on my mbna amex credit card payment and they took away the promotional offer from me (0% balance transfer until july) and started chargiing me interest (1month almost £55 + late fee + something else).

My excuse was that I did not received statement (which is true) but obvioously when I tried to negotiate over the phone, mbna amex people turned me down and had to or clear my credit card or pay interest otherwise I will end up in a lot off debt.

Everybody on this forum just kept telling me that it is my fault (which I knew) but no advice.

So here is what I done and got my promotional offer back + refunded money for interest charged over the last 2 motnhs +late fee (by now I cleared my credit card with another by it is still nice to get back something around £100)

I wrote them letter explaining my situation, that I always paid on time, loyal customer and etc. (as back up I had letter from post office apologising for not delivered some mail but never used it). I did not thread only explained the situation and asked clearly to give back the offer or refund the money (late fee and interest). and today I received letter promising me to return all money + the offer.

So this thread is only to thank some people who understood and also to give a hope to those who are in the similar situation.

Never give up. It is always worth to send letter and fight.nothing to loose

Congratulations on getting your deal reinstated and charges refunded.

I hope you've now registered your details on Virgin's website and that of your new provider. Three late payments in a row take some explaining, IMO. Next time you may not be so lucky.

Virgin provides excellent online services. There's no need for anyone with a pc to rely on postal statements.

Virgin/MBNA has good telephone back-up as well. You can always call your providers and ask when the first payment falls due.

Surely the message here is set up a direct debit and then yu will save yourself alot of grieve. No doubt you still have not set up a direct debit.

The most common threads I seem to see are "i thought i had set up a direct debit but 3 months later I have 3 late fees and lots of interest" etc.

you are right, no direct debit set up as paid the credit card off now :)

and yes it is not good to rely on bank statements and etc but please let's not go through this again, this thread is only to motivate people who are in the similar situation.

thanks and i missed only one payment (just one late fee) :)
i agree that 3 late payments would need some explaining and there would be very low chance of happy ending :)
