What next? On-the-spot fines for leaving a window open?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Wasn't it just a few months ago that police were reporting that crime wasn't as bad as people thought and it was safe to leave your door unlocked

haha awesome!
I live in Lumbertubs - Northampton, and havent seen any police about yet !
Haven't been broken into either, which is a good thing !

£3,300....! I'm wondering how they come to that figure.
Man hours, vehicle costs to and fro crime scene, phone bill, use of forensic equipment, cross referencing seized goods with the property stolen and I can't think of much else.
Does anybody know why it would cost so much or have any ideas?0 -

What a superb idea!.
If you get burgled, and the burglar enters through an open window or un-locked door, your insurance company won't pay-out as technically, you failed to maintain a secure property.
Mind you, if they live in Council Houses, the chances of them having any insurance is negligable anyway.Never Knowingly Understood.

What a story!
The thing that gets me is that when I watch the TV programs that follow the police e.g. road wars, street crime UK etc, its amazing how many people are never charged. Even if they are charged, they are given a court date and then fail to appear. Okay, these aren't the crimes of the century; however it just seems that there isn't sufficient deterent to stop the criminal element.0 -
On my walk home yesterday, the police have cordoned off a road and as I was walking past the policeman guarding one end he (Unprompted) bid me good evening. How refreshing to meet a polite policeman with old style values.
If only more officers could try this it would work wonders with how the public perceive them.
Well done that man0 -
