BEWARE!!! 02 Email bill scam

Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes:

Just got an monthly emailed bill from O2, as normal, although I thought it was a bit unusual as it was a few days earlier this month.

It was also £30ish more than usual so I pulled up last months to compare.

Font was different, but everything else appeared identical other than one of the links had a . missing.

Anyway, logged into my account normal way and checked it - no bill.

So finally decided it may be a scam and clicked on link to compare it with real 02 site.

Just had time to see site was being directed to somewhere other than O2 when AV went into overdrive and blocked it (trojan etc).

It was a direct copy of my normal O2 mail and I was very very nearly taken in, in fact if the amount hadn't been higher than the norm I would probably have clicked through to my account without thinking.

Have reported it to O2.

Thank god for AV software!

I got one as well, I thought it was odd as I'm on PAYG, but very convincing, I did not click on any of the links. I was going to forward to O2 but was not sure of the e mail for them.

I got one as well, sent it to abuse@o2.co.uk (I'm also on PAYG). I normally just bin anything from the "banks" - the O2 one was new but similar.

Quick tip - instead of opening anything dodgy with Outlook, right-click and choose Preperties, then click on the Details tab then click the Message Source button. This opens the email in text-only format so you can check for duff html (in this case the <a href="....." spoofing the o2.co.uk links).
