Help with buying Mobility Scooter?

Hi guys
My dad is retired and registered disabled following a stroke. As he is over 60 he gets Assistance Allowance rather than DSA, but he did qualify for a Blue Badge for whenever he travels in my car.
He is wanting to get a portable mobility scooter (12mile range) which folds and goes in the car so we can go a bit further in the car and go for a 'walk'. The one he'd like is £600 and so I was wondering if he could get any help (like a grant?) with costs for this?

I don't know of any grants, sorry. But could he not look for a 2nd user one as there always seem to be a lot on offer?
Ebay has a section for disability aids, so may be worth having a look on there. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I don't know about grants etc., but the disabreg site has a mobility scooter section, and listsprivate sales and sometimes 'free to good home' offers.0

The stroke association give grants for things..like household appliances don't know if they cover scooters?
Could you look for a local sharer and get one together?0
