AVG FREE 8.5 problems

Hello, can some one help me, my avg 8 is out of date and am trying to download 8.5 but it keeps failing saying no perameters, what does this mean and what do i do?
I'm not very technical so please be gentle with me!,

I've saved download to desktop, now its asking which program to open it

Hi, i've managed to open this and download, but am unable to remove AVG 8. from computer, when trying to download updates from antivir the AVG keeps detecting a virus threat called Win32/Polycrypt, what do i do?

Use the 32 bit AVG removal tool

If that doesnt work then uninstall Avira. Reinstall AVG 'OVER THE TOP'. Uninstall AVG. Run the removal tool and reinstall Avira

It says to save all important data before actioning it, does it mean back up all my files on the computer, pics etc? Sorry to sound so thick but i have no idea about these things

It just means anything you have open as youll need to restart your computer

It means save anything that you are working on before starting the removal process. Ideally, close all other programs as well.
