Hello there
I have just done the MS updates for this week and chose not to have IE 8 installed.
The updates icon is remaining in my tray, I have unchecked the IE 8 box but that does not stop the windows update icon from showing in the tray.
Any ideas ?
want IE 8.

a) Reboot? (No offence, some people don't reboot..)
b) Move to Linux and do it quicker, safer and for free..
Cheers!

or goto https://www.windowsupdate.com and select what you want from there. You must use IE for this though0

Vista has a dedicated update program, they dont use the browser active x controls to manage windows updates anymore.
You can hide updates, I think the update notifications will ignore it after that point.0
