Bank holiday weekend "What small dfw things have you done???" thread

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Good morning lovely dfw'sjumping0044.gif, hi to all the regulars:hello::hello::hello:, and welcome on board to any new posters:D.

Yay bank holiday weekend , three days without work:j:j Lots of planning to do this weekend for my new house, will be dipping into savings for some things that we need (and probably some things that we just like!) Gardening aand seedlings to see to and a million other things to sort out, so the weekend should be busy but productive. Lots of things to think about and plan - hence the very early post as my mind is wandering all over the place and not allowing me to sleep. Think an Andan type list is in order to clear my mind:D

Hugs to anyone feeling poorly or down, hope you feel better soon.

Today I will
  • check online banking
  • move some money from savings for stuff for new house
  • storecupboard lunch and tea
  • look for good deal on microwave and hoover for new house
  • water veggie seedlings and plant more seedlings out in garden
  • do something from my 101 in 1001 challenge
  • sparkleHSstars.gifHSstars.gif will be wearing cow socks today for inspiration:D
  • use lots of smilies to cheer me up
  • recycle something
  • one lot of laundry hokey cokey for OH
  • little bit of ironing for me
  • no cleaning/housework to do all done in week:j
  • update blog
Think that's about it for today , have a great day everyone.
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

    Morning Morning!!!

I'm up unusually early for a Saturday (although still technically in bed!) - must be because OH is away until tomorrow.

    So far today I have:

    Fed and watered cats
    Made cup of tea
Checked online banking - which is actually looking quite healthy :T. Mind you mortgage hasn't gone out for the month yet so wont get too excited!

Today I plan to varnish our living room door. OH sanded it down last w/e so it's my turn now. Hoping I have some varnish left over in the shed, if not a flying visit to the DIY shop is in order.

Tonight I am visiting my best friend for a catch up and a takeaway, so money will be spent there but it shouldn't be too much.

    Enjoy the sunshine people! :j

This is a really good idea SM.

Woke up too early. Feeling a bit delicate after drinking too much wine last night but don't want to waste the day so here is our plan:
    • Check online banking. List what we need to do so our finances are in order for our move.started-done
    • Start on ruthlessly decluttering lounge. Throw/Charity Shop/Ebay. Put anything not for immediate use in boxes.-almost done
    • Wash bedding/towels/clothes-done
    • Buy Daily Express for free telly mag and free Tropicana Smoothie.-done
    • Start sorting out plants on patio-what is coming with us/what is not-done
    • Food from freezer/storecupboard. Got to start running freezer down.-done
    • Start writing a letter to my best friend in Australia.-Very telling that the only thing I didn't do was a 'flow activity', which would have been very beneficial to me.
    • Read £4k challenge page.-ongoing
May add to this according to how the day goes. Good luck All.

    Morning All,

Revision all weekend - I am having some time off tonight and tomorrow to spend time with OH and give me a break. In between I have to do some chores - am getting quite frustrated with the clutter. I can't wait til the exam is over so I can get really stuck in. Lodger has now left - it's nice to know that flat is all mine again and I can walk around in just my knickers (not a good look)!

    My list is:
    • REVISION - working on it - have got lots to do and was late in getting started. Still got a few hours to go til OH gets here.
    • [STRIKE]Run the washing machine to clean it[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Washing HC - 2 loads[/STRIKE]
    • Iron 10 items
    • [STRIKE]Put away clothes and sort smalls[/STRIKE]
    • Washing Up
    • Sweep kitchen floor
    • Clean bathroom
    • Hoover living room, hall and stairs
    • Walk for 30 mins to enjoy the lovely sunshine
    • [STRIKE]Storecupboard breakfast[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Storecupboard lunch - soup from freezer[/STRIKE] Wasn't hungry as I had a late breakfast so have had snacks instead.
    • Storecupboard dinner - HM pizzas
    • [STRIKE]Loaf in BM[/STRIKE]
    That's enough from me.
