Swinton changing their terms and cancelling my car policy

Basically, they've contacted me this week to let me know that my policy will be cancelled in 7 days as their (broker?) has changed their terms of contract and no longer covers vehicle's that aren't in a lock up garage near to the customers property. They've taken a samll percentage of the quote and refunded the difference. I've been made to feel like a criminal, even though I've filled in the info correctly on the Swinton insuarnce website.

I suspect that the company feels they've undersold my policy, as it was extra-ordinalrily cheap and have decided to cash out instead citing some obscure 'right to cancel any policy at any time'

Are they allowed to do this?

geckofabulous pedro has given you good advice there.

Swintons cancelling your policy could cause problems if they register on a database that they cancelled your policy. This is because other Insurers ask if you have ever had Insurance refused or cancelled by an Insurer. If you have then it is very difficult to arrange cover. It would therefore important that you get to the bottom of this and at the very least establish whether it is a cancellation they have recorded which will have serious implications for you (I suspect they have not done it this way as it is not because of your actions they are cancelling).

You have had a lucky escape as in my opinion Swintons are not great, they probably placed you with MMA who own them
