Income protection claim and holidays

Following redundancy I am claiming under an income protection insurance. I have a 2 week holiday booked and already paid for. I know that I will not be able to get my JSA, but the terms of the income protection policy state that I must be looking for work. Should I not secure a job by my holiday, considering that I will be still looking daily for opennings over the internet (have internet connection at accomodation) and applying for anything suitable and will be fully contactable by email and telephone, does anyone know how the insurance company will view this?

Cancelling the holiday is not an option as wife is stressed at work and needs a break away and I have potential business contacts to visit whilst abroad.

I was in exactly the same situation as you a couple of years back and had a holiday booked to Florida when I was made redundant. People may not agree with what I done but I actually called the jobcentre on the morning I was due to sign on (remembering the time difference) and told them that I had been offered a last minute holiday camping with friends in the uk that was not near a local job centre and that I would sign on when I get back given them the date I would come in. That way I didnt loss out on my income protection. You are allowed a holiday in the uk but not abroad apparently. It really depends on what date you are due to sign on and how far you are into your holiday.

    good luck
