I have a Philips dvd757vr thats 18mths old. After fixing a new scart connector yesterday it won`t play any of my dvd`s but will play cd`s and cd videos, the vcr is working alright. I would be grateful if someone can give me any ideas as to what the problem could be and can it be fixed.
Have I accidently gooshed it!!
Many thanks

You're going to have to include more information for anyone to hazzard a guess as to what could be wrong. It could be something as simple as the signal being passed to the video which has some kind of protection that prevents you playing your dvds through it ie: macrovision or something more complex. You're going to have to describe what exactly you mean as to "fixing a scart connector", have you been tinkering with the pins inside the scart connector ? or something easier. As I said, more details are going to be required.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
have you tried a different scart lead?
how did you have it connected originally?
try the setup menus to see if there is an option to return all settings to the factory defaults.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Try wiggling the lead a bit, it may not be making a full contact, so you got sound but no picture, see if it pushed right in or try swaping if a different scart lead.0

Thanks for your replies! I didn`t "fix" the scart lead I just replaced an existing scart for a new one cos my son took mine for his vcr. I think it may just be a coincidence that the thing won`t work know.
I`m getting a disk error when I try dvd`s, old ones and brand new one`s, so no picture or sound. Picture and sound with cdvideos though. I will try the old scartl lead again but my son thinks it could be the lens needs cleaning.0 -
hi...if it was just the lense needing cleaning then you would nt be able to play anything on it at all...i think it could be something inside the machine stopping dvd`s playing0

Tried another scart lead and it still won`t play dvd`s.
Any suggestions.
