Help we are trying to find car insurance for our teenage son, who is so reliable its unbelievable! We have a car, and M reg fiesta Quartz from 1995 1119cc. My husband has been looking at putting his no claims on of 9 years, our post code is LE3 2TS. The cheapest we can find is about £700 as a learner, but when he passes it is going up to £1000+ Try £2.5k if we insure it in his name. The sad thing is he will only be doing less that 20 miles a day!
Tried the obvious but if anyone can recommend anything, we would be very grateful.
Am happy to provide more details through PM if someone can help.
Thanks

There is no such thing as cheap insurance for a 17 year old lad!
Think hard about entrusting your hard earned ncd to a 17 year old!
If you do, make sure you are truthful about who is the main driver after he passes his test!0 -
I know we are searching everywhere. It look as though we will put the insurance in our name and have him as a second driver. At the end of the day my husband will drive the car more anyway so we are being truthful. Still a huge shock on the insurance.
Any pointers gratefully received0 -

If you put it in the fathers name you will need to check with the Insurers that they will cover your son to drive to and from work or college as some do not cover additional drivers for this.
You will also need to make sure the vehicle is registered in the fathers name0 -
If your husband uses his NCB on the policy that your son will also be on as a named driver please think about protecting it......that's if he doesn't already.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Bear in mind that if your husband is using the no claims bonus on another vehicle he does not automatically also have the no claims bonus on a second car, check with the Insurers before commiting yourself to it. Otherwise you will get a big bill if you cannot provide the no claims bonus.
Also it is very important that when the quotes asks how many vehicles are in the family and / or they ask if your husband has any other vehicles you answer it correctly. Insurers use this as one of the factors to calculate the rate when their is a young additional driver0
