2nd gym equipment?

Really don't know where to post this .. so here we go!
I'm looking to get some 2nd hand gym equipment, main thing I want is a Elliptical/Cross Trainer. Now I can get one a cheap as £99 in Argos, but I don't know whether it would be much cop. Cheap equipment often tend to be lightweight and a bit flimsy and given the type of thing it is (involves lots of screwing together, etc), its not something thats quite so easy to take back if I don't like it. So I'm thinking 2nd hand. For the same price I might get something worth a lot more .. but where to look? I've looked on eBay, but its so difficult to tell from pics, plsu with eBay, its going to be quite expensive for P&P given the weight of these things. Anyone know of a good place for these 2nd hand in London?

The best board to ask would be the I Wanna board, I reckon, and so i'll move the post across for you.

Before you do anything - join your local freecycle group (we have 3 or 4 in the Dorset area and there is always loads of stuff being offered).
I've seen bikes being offered recently and best of all it's all FREE. You can post a 'Wanted' advert and hopefully someone that has one will think 'oh I never use ours' and offer it to you! We’ve had to remove your signature. You could try looking in LOOT. LOOT.com also have pictures and you can always try before you buy if the seller allows it.
Kind regards,
