Crawfords Loss Adjusters and vouchers

  • Well some good news, the insurance has finally paid out but only for items I had valuation certificates or receipts for, so about 70% of the claim.

It's a bit galling that one of the rings they wouldn't pay out on was actually repaired under the same insurance policy 9 years ago so therefore should have been proof of ownership but they said that their records only go back 7 years so they won't pay.

They have fully reimbursed me for the replacement door and window and even paid for the skip to take the old ones away.

I really think that they just did whatever they could to delay this for 6 months and then just paid out. There was no more mention of aliases or anything.

They transferred the money straight into my bank account so no vouchers for the jewellery or camera but we did get Argos vouchers for replacement of the games consoles.

My advice to anyone else in this situation would be to employ one of theses claims companies to handle it all for you, I think this would have been paid sooner and would have been far less stressful if we had.

Do you have any proof of ownership for the items they have not paid for, this could be receipts, gurantees, boxes, photos of you wearing them. In the case of the item they paid out for a copy of the claim form or letters from the Insurers refering to the item or perhaps speaking to the repairer and asking if they can confirm anything in writing.

The excuse re 7 years records may be true for paper records but there must surely be an archived computer record of the earlier claim.
I remember RSA had a huge silo vault with a robotic arm that could retrieve the storage media on old claims. Took about 30 secs for the record to appear but we were able to access records going back to 1984 in 2004.
