in Credit cards
Hi,
Couldn't find an article about this but wanted to know if I can make purchases on a credit card via direct debit. Not to clear my credit card balance via direct debit. I've been given a an account number and sort code for my credit card but haven't tried paying say my gas bill via the credit card but as a direct debit.
Just woundering if anyone had tried this or know about it.
Thanks

It's called a Continuous Credit Authority and you can do it if the retailer/supplier supports it. Even if they do, DD discounts are unlikely to apply to CCAs. CCAs also have less protection than DDs in case something goes wrong, and can be more difficult to cancel.
The sort code & account number you have for your CC is for the bank's account, not yours. If you tried to use that you would, in effect, be trying to set up a DD for your bank to pay your bills0
