Windows Essencials Update Problem

For a few weeks now, everytime I log on a box pops up saying "Windows Essencials Media Codecs Update Service"

If I say I want to install updates it always tries and fails. I have been into the control panel and looked at updates but this doesn't appear there so I can't ask it to ignore it.

It's getting on my nerves now so does anybody know how I can stop this box popping up. (I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium)

It looks as though you (or another user of that PC) have installed a media player and codec package from this company:

http://www.mediacodec.org/

If you look at that web site you'll see instructions on how to get rid of the problem (lower right hand side).

I should add that I have no idea whether the software that this company distributes is benign or not - I've never used it myself.
