Travel insurance/pre existing condition.

jonesMUFCforever - Thanks for that! I have dealt with many travellers that end up paying their medical bills because of "free policies". My own Lloyds credit card has free insurance and I never saw an application form or signed for it but they tell me I've got it. Only because I looked at the policy, it does not cover;
Pre-existing conditions
Medical re-patriation (can be bigger bill than hospital)
Baggage
Only about £100,000.00 (exchange rate as quoted for British US residents in $$$)
Seeing I have Diabetes and Sleep Apnia - guess what happens if I made a claim? And that is why I have proper coverage elswhere when I travel.
AS for your kind comment about "complete nonsense" well thanks for the compliment - as a Man Utd fan, I'm not surprised you don't have an intelegent comment to make!
REMEMBER this is an advice forum and not an insulting chat room, if you cannot be respectfull stay on AOL or the likes. People on here give up time and expertise to help others if you think I write nonsense read again, you'll see I give an opinion and refer the OP to where he/she can get the correct advice (the FSA) and if you bothered to read the link postings, you'll see Martin tends not to agree with you! Thank you.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

No problem pedro.
MSE Martin is not keen on these accounts where you pay a fee for a various reasons.
My concern is that people do not fully understand what they are and more importantly aren't covered for with the freeby Insurance products on these accounts. Assuming the bank employee does explain the various covers fully there is a stong chance the customer will not listen. With this many Insurance products being "sold" in one go the amount of paperwork that the FSA would require to be given to the customer would be massive and unfortunately most people would not bother to read them. The Lloyds TSB policy booklet for their freeby policies is 80 pages long and is not with a great Insurer.
I have helped a couple of MSE members that had lost thier phones and assumed they were covered as they had mobile phone cover with their bank accounts. Unfortunately they were not aware they had to register the phones and any changes to the phones to the bank/Insurer so they were not covered. I'm confident that if they had physically paid for mobile phone insurance themselves they would have registered them and been covered.0 -

You never heard of "practice what you preach".
You cannot expect to gain any respect by first insulting football fans then doing a bit of preaching.
Everyone who takes out insurance is pointedly told to read the documents to ensure they are covered. This also goes for complimentary policies you are so disparaging about, which do give you the opportunity to declare any pre existing conditions.0 -

No - you come off it if you expect us to accept this was just a "friendly dig":FH_Brit wrote:REMEMBER this is an advice forum and not an insulting chat room, if you cannot be respectfull stay on AOL or the likes. Quentin - your quote "Everyone who takes out insurance is pointedly told to read the documents to ensure they are covered. This also goes for complimentary policies you are so disparaging about, which do give you the opportunity to declare any pre existing conditions"
Yes you are right but I often deal with people that see "free travel insurance" and READ NO FURTHER. It's these people that need to get the advice as people will see that and think they are covered. People like you and me that deal with this stuff, or actually read the exclusions part of a policy (or even bother to find out before signing on the line) don't need the advice.
No matter where you are or how much you tell people there will still be someone who assumes they are covered. We all know not to sign stuff before reading it and yet, we all still do, and then wonder when it goes "pear shaped".C. (Ex-Pat Brit)
