Computer web usage when switched off ?

I joined Plusnet broadband a few days ago and everything seems fine except my usage chart is showing usage when my computer is switched off.?

Although this is free usage because it's between midnight and 8 am I am concerned that if I'm supposed to have used 70.48KB wed night, 76.97KB thurs night and 74.7KB last night might my other Plusnet figures also be in error?

Do you normally switch off the modem/wireless box when the computer is not in use? Could it be leaving it on give the usage figures whilst the computer is switched off?

Your router will be syncing while it's on, I turn mine of when not in use, saves a little bit of power/money plus I don't want something running that anyone could attempt to piggy back, although it's 100% secure

Alot of routers are not designed to be easily turned of (no off switch) so I have mine plugged into a power supple that can be turned off.

well i would assume that most people with a desktop have a lot of plugs and only one or two sockets... meaning they all have extension cords (or something to convert one plug into multiple) on already, meaning they can avoid being lazy and switch thing off at the mains. not alot of effort is it?

    instead of buying unnecessary equipment...

after all it is money saving expert.

Assume they can get at the mains socket, mines stuck behind cupboards so use a extension with a on/off switch

and all this assumes you only have 1 device that uses the internet/router so you can actually turn it off...

it still amazes me that people go for overpriced limited gb packages with the internet when there are companies out there offering competitive priced packages that are unlimited so you don't have to worry about counting, the MB.... sorry, in this case KB
