Unsticking wooden sash windows?

We applied wood preservative to our wooden sashes a couple of weeks ago, and tho' we were very careful a couple of windows are now stuck! Is there a simple way of unsticking them? I daren't try brute force in case I break the glass. Any suggestions?

There should in interior retaining bead, remve it carefull and then get one person to push the sash frame inwards from outside while another person steadies it from inside so it doesn't drop out. Rub down the raised areas where the stain has glued them together with very fine sandpaper or wet + dry and then refit.
Longwinded job but safest !

another way is to get a big piece of wood and place it against the stuck piece of the window (the wooden part not the glass) then gently tap it with a hammer. If you do it gently it works and will not damage the window. Remember to use the piece of wood to protect the window from marking.0
