Every landlord on MSE will always be ok. No one is going to admit they made the biggest mistake they probably could.
But, the evidence from outside is that more and more landlords are filing for bankruptcy, so theres got to be something in it.

great link Graham - lot's of evidence there, not...According to the expert, the firm has seen a rise in portfolio landlords being forced into bankruptcy.
100 to 105 landlords or is it a more significant number?
to be fair to you and helping you out here due to your bad research - i saw this a few months ago there were just over 2% of landlords in arrears according to the CML.
this is even more worryingLandlords are currently seeing 37 per cent of their tenants in arrears
just shows that the stuff that people spout about over-leveraging isn't one of the worst problems out there for a landlord.0 -

Entirely agree. But I'm not sure advice that EVERY BTLer should sell is of any real value is it?0 -

Which implies an annualised yield of ~4.18% between March 2012 and June 2012.
The Bank of England yield curve analyses more stocks than just your pair. Details here:

You want the forward curve, that shows 3.3% or so for 3 years from now. Not that different from your 4.18% estimate. The BOE figures are based on yesterday's prices. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Ok. Why argue with me and try to talk down to me
You are ok, you say. So why get so up tight about me posting that? Surely this is also good for you, less competition?
Stop protesting so much. I'm not here to prove anything. I just posted a link to a story that stated that portfolio landlord bankruptices are going up. I have no axe to grind.0 -

i thought i'd give it balance and make it an even worse story.
i went back into BTL last year - so can't be in trouble already!!
i'm not uptight - just like to give it balance.
to be fair, i do apologise giving you a hard time sometimes. it's not intentional, just happens. i apologise if it's gone too far.0 -

Think of the number of houses you could get on that!
I'd love a safari park. Pretty much my dream come true. I'd run bendy buses through it, thereby controlling the peoples movments and protecting their cars.
Damn it, I wish I had a long enough life to save up for a safari park!0 -

If anything, your post is convincing me to look into BTL as an investment vehicle to compliment my current investment portfolio.
