Scottish Power stopping me from switching

I have been trying to switch from SP to BG since February, Have now had 4 dates from British Gas (date to switch) and Scottish Power have raised an objection on each occasion. I dont owe them any money, and never have at any point in the process. When I phoned to find out the reason for objection, they are unable to tell me the reason that the objection has been raised, I have had one letter from SP saying that they objected because I owed them £0.00, when I pay this amount, I will be able to re-apply to British Gas!!!
I have already contacted consumer advice and they contacted SP and I have just received a letter from SP detailing their complaints procedure which I had already exhausted.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Daft as it sounds, maybe sending them a cheque for £0.00 attached to a copy of the letter they sent requesting it may persuade their computer to say "yes".
When you eventually get away, don't let it lie - follow up your complaint with a request for them to pay you compensation for the extra costs you have incurred as a result of them hanging on to you as a customer - plus some compensation for all the time/expense on correspondence etc and inconvenience in sorting out the problem.0 -
Have you checked all the details on the switch to BG, i.e your supply number, your meter serial number? It maybe that BG are trying to apply for the incorrect details if there is a house nearby with similar address or the address is setup incorrectly on the national database and they are applying incorrectly that way.Dannii_B

You're not on a fixed price with Scottish are you? Some of them have a "fixed term".
I would try getting BG to switch again, and if it doesn't go through this time and you aren't given a reason, then put in a proper complaint to consumer focus?Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -

I'd refer Scottish Power to their customer charter at http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/mediaAssets/doc/SPCustomercharters_Enquiry.pdfNamed after my cat, picture coming shortly0
