wat can i do, please help me

It was pay day yesterday, and because i have been off sick with depression from work i only got paid £300 (instead of £1000)

we have a seperate account for our bills and i needed to transfer £860 into that account, but i could only transfer £450, my full wages and £150 left of my overdraft.

so now i am £400 short for my bills, have tried takin a payment holiday on my loan but they wont do it, we bought our shopping and petrol on cc yesterday (shoppin only £26 and petrol £30 needed for work) but thats the card maxed now too

and to top it off i jus got my water bill in for £77 and final gas n electric bills (changed to save money) for gas £177 and electric £70

so i am £450 short for my bills, have no money for food n petrol until the 30th of may and have these final bills to pay

please please help i dont no wat to do or were to turn, i no sittin here cryin isnt going to help

our house is up for rent, and we are moving back in with OHs parents

I had an interview on tue for a new job and start next tue, so i will get paid at the end of may from the new job but i cant think of anything else we can do

please help

Hi depressed.

Sorry things are tough for you at the moment.

Firstly if you have DDs that are going to bounce I would cancel them, otherwise you are only going to end up with charges.

Then you will have to prioritise your money and your debts. Any priority debts and secured debts should be paid first and non-priority will have to be paid with any remaining money.

It may be worth talking to the water company and asking if you can pay the bill over 3 months. Ditto for the gas & electricity.

I would then suggest that for the store card and credit cards write them a letter enclosing a token payment for whatever you can afford this month. Tell them its a temporary situation due to changing work/ being ill and that you will return to normal payments in June.

You must keep some money back for food - but obviously you will need to spend as little here as possible. Look through what you bought yesterday and what you have in the cupboards and try to meal plan. (I know you don't want to borrow anymore money but I'm sure you parents / OHs parents would feed you both few times or buy you a few groceries considering the circumstances).

When does OH get paid? Can he put any extra into the bills account this month.

Have you had any luck finding tenants yet?

Good luck, it won't be an easy month for you but at least you are planning for it ahead and not waiting until after the DDs are cancelled and the nasty letters start arriving.

Cancelling DDs will save you so much in charges and will make next month a little easier hopefully.

OH has jus been paid also and his full wages have gone into the bills account

I am on hold waitin to speak to gas n electric pple, n then will ring the water

the main thing is that the mortgage n council tax have been paid already, so the dd that go out last are the debenhams credit card, barclays cc and mobile bills.

We have had 2 pple to view the house, the first couple havent rang the estate agent back and the 2nd couple sed it was too far to work

our shoppin bill is onlya round £25 a week, but OH needs petrol to get to work, cos the hours he works, he would need 4 buses

am jus hopin we get tenants in this month, cos then next month we wil have some spare money to pay off anythin that we end up havin to borrow

Is there anyway of maybe extending your overdraft?

I know it's not ideal but you could tell the bank (or try to do it yourself online) that your pay has been messed up and you're trying to get it fixed

i have rang the bank and they have said no to the overdraft

i jus feel like am doin everythin i can, like puttin the house up for rent, cancelled our wedding, we havent been out in over a year, we dont buy b/day or christmas presents etc, we spend 25 pound a week on food, we dont drink and we dont smoke and now we cant even afford to eat this month

its all my fault for having 3 jobs in the past year, meaning pay cuts and months with no wages

Hi Depressed,

I can imagine how you feel, it's really difficult managing at the moment.

The thing to do is write a list of all your income, from all sources and then a list of expenses.

You need to prioritise your expenses with council tax, water rates, food, petrol for work, gas and electricity, even tv licence, and mortgate all coming before credit card debts or other unsecured loans.

cancel all direct debits before you get charged bank fees.

Phone all credit card or non secured debts and make offers to repay and ask for interest to be put on hold. Some credit cards will do this after talking to you, some will ask to see your income and expenditure list first.

You say you have a final bill for gas when you changed suppliers. phone them and make an offer to pay weekly or monthly but only at an amount you can afford.

If all these things do not work or no one will co-operate with you, then go to the CAB and ask for an appointment with a debt councillor who will help you sort things out,.

am considering askin OHs parents for help this month, I know they dont have a great deal of money either but they did say before they had a small amount of savings if we were desperate, so thinking of asking to borrow the extra 400 for the bills and 150 for food and petrol. I am still trying to sort out the gas, electric and water

if we can borrow the money from OHs parents, we can pay them most of it back next month if we rent the house out soon, so i will ask OH when he gets in, n hopefully pop round theirs tonight, they know we are strugglin hense us movin in their house

It sounds like you have a good support network...USE IT!! They are helping you out so you can eventually live the life you want...but I'm sure the real reason is that your OH is still their little boy and they would do anything for him
