natwest current account application

About a month ago I applied online for a natwest current account eventually after 2wks they sent me a request to prove my identity i then went down to the branch they sent a copy them to the internet opening team in leeds.

Then last week i got another letter asking for income proof and a bank statement, I sent this off.

Now today i rang they said it had been refered to an lending unit which will take 3 days to make a decision!

Anyone know what that involves?

Also due to the fact it has taken so long they did another credit search!, even though i was assured they would not!.

I had 2 searches on experian then, now following applying left right and centre on credit plus for a car, plus credit cards i have like 30!, in less than a 3mths!.

Anyone know what checks they do?, I believe i had a good chance with 2 searches but not with 30!.
