I only have a small drive and only about 10gb on it anyway (86% free).
Will do the Dr Web now.0 -
Quick scan showed nothing BUT complete scan shows 'Archive contains infected objects'.
It won't let me copy them as it's asking me to download Combofix (which I already have).
I think the files relate to the previous Combofix fixes. Shall I now run Combofix again... or not - in case I create more of these archive files - yarrrgh - so stressed!
Please don't be going out for a Friday bev in the next half hour - I am now the Paranoid Android!0 -
You can run combofix if you like. It might show something it didnt previously
But it is looking like your computers clean now after all:idea:0 -
Right - it wasn't asking me to download Combofix it was asking me to move the files (which I have) and the scan is continuing.0

While I am waiting for the scan to finish, I use Firefox for my browser and use Avast, Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes regularly.
Do you have any suggestions that may be an improvement/addition on any of the above please?0 -
yup. AD AWARE I find to be cr*p
Id personally completely uninstall it
Malwarebytes is the program i ALWAYS use first ~ its very good
Avast is fine
Personally id advise also using SUPERANTISPYWARE and SPYBOT (Especially spybots IMMUNISE feature). And UPDATE and run them alternating weekly
And using NOSCRIPT with firefox ~
NOSCRIPT
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
NOSCRIPT works by blocking ALL website scripts (Which is how dodgy websites infect your computer ~ the easiest way to catch a virus after downloading). So you need to UNLOCK all websites you use for them to work properly (Like this one for example)
It also prevents 'page hijacking' (clicking to goto a BANK page for example and being redirected to a BOGUS page which would give scammers your login details!)
I personally set it so that it DOESNT show messages about blocked scripts. Then all you need to do is use common sense. Think to yourself 'does the site work ok'? If so it doesnt need touching. But if you wanted to watch a video on youtube say, youd need to unlock parts of it. Look bottom right, If theres ANY red on the 'S' symbol, then something is being blocked.:idea:0 -
Brilliant - thank you. I tried fiddling around with scripts and disabled the Java script settings the other day (had to re enable Java before the Kapersky) but obviously didn't really know what I was doing.0

Scan looks to be taking ages, so if it doesn't show anything but what I think are the Combofix archives, I will run Combofix again and if still clear will take it that hopefully I am 'clean'!
Will deffo take your advice on the other stuff and am truly grateful for your help today. I have a ticket for the Euromillions tonight & if I win you have £1m coming your way (not much from the £89m I hear you say but I need it for the charities I support). You have it in writing now so it's binding I think!
Once again thank you for your help and have a great weekend.x0 -
Like I said ~ No need to panic
Id say your clean (Scan depending). Even if your not your computers clearly running pretty well (Considering)
If drweb comes back clean id say your good to go (Though we can run some 'cleaning' progs if you like)
Im taking you up on that euro millions offer
:idea:0 -
My word is my bond - ha ha! Jokes aside - if I say it - I mean it! You give your time and knowledge on a regular basis so would be great if one of us could repay you.
I DO panic as I run anti-virus and the like regularly, I'm strict with my 'house-keeping and most of my friends don't bother (and don't seem to have any problems....or do they and don't know it)?
Had my PC for years now and really could not afford a new one so....
If you can let me know the cleaning programmes that would be great as I DO like to be thorough (yep sad I know).0
