Scam email

I opened my mail box this morning, and there was a mail from a friend I haven't heard from for a while.

I opened it and it was recommending a site selling laptops etc, and definitely wasn't from my friend as the English wasn't good.

I haven't clicked on the site link, and have run a Norton scan, and everything seems to be OK.

Does this mean my laptop is OK, and it is my friend that has the problem ?

You should be OK but it doesn't hurt to run a few of the scans recommended in the sticky at the top of the page.

It's probably your friend that is infected or it could be a common friend who has both of you in their address book

Does your friend have a hotmail account by any chance?

The mail came from her yahoo mailbox, and if it wasn't for the awful English, I might just have opened the links.

It was addressed to undisclosed recipients.

I have sent her a text to tell her she may have a problem, and have run my Norton scan, but it hasn't found anything
