You can get the plugs and the stuff to put in them locally if you need it.

Don't know for definite but i personally think so and it only takes 1 little mozzie to give you lots of grief, so i would have thought a few £s spent on a plug in would be money well spent. I would also reccommend insect repellant with deet in, avon so soft dry spray the green one, citronella available from the chemists, and i suffer with hayfever so take anti histamines which seem to deter the little blighters.
I wonder is there a name for the phobia of mozzies as i have it lol.

Don't forget to top up the spray on your body often. Got badly bitten one night when I forgot to put the spray in my bag. Had spray on already, but was out for about 5 hours and it wore off. The bites were itching and painful for days. Blooming things don't come near me when I'm on holiday with DH-he's obviously tastier than me! ;)

I go sailing to the Ionian (which incs Kefalonia) in May every year - and every year I've been bitten in varying degrees. I know the water is probably making things worse but I now take the following and it seems to have worked:

Suncream containing mossie stuff (got mine from boots - 2 4 1 at the moment)
    Aftersun spray inc. mossie guard
Non drowsy antihistimine (in case you are bitten - helps with the itching)
Also bought a local mossie spray one year out there if not wearing the other stuff above.
And lastly, but not least, old fashioned soda crystals - wet one and place on bite - stings but really takes away the itch.

Take it easy on the perfume and try and cover up at night if you can - that's when it seems to be worse.

I've never tried the plug in gizmos as I'm without electicity for 2 weeks. If you get the chance, go to Fiskardo whilst on the island - in a word, beautiful!

Kirsty12 - This might help, I have just returned from Med and YES they are about.
I always take loads of garlic supplements (2 x day) and eat marmite for breakfast, NEVER get bitten.
OH does neither of above and gets attacked every night by the dam things.
Try it see what you think?

Thanks for all your ideas guys, i bought yesterday a bottle of suncream with mozzie guard, a bottle of anti-mozzie cream for evening/night and a after bite pen thingy.

I might start on the garlic supplements soon!!
