I used to work for the new owners, they had a very successfull import company in Manchester, they bought B&M up about 3 years ago. Their strategy is simple, they buy as much directly as possible, the quality may not be brilliant on all the items, but - you get what you pay for....
They use low cost suppliers for a lot of UK sourced products, you would probably look at where some of the items come from and be horrified, but that's how they can make a margin and still sell cheaply.
By the way - some products on sale in B&M are brought in from the same places as the more mid range stores such as Next and in one case - John Lewis!!!
Just cherry pick what you want...Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -

They used to do some great cheap healthy cereal with flaxseed in, very very cheap.
Haven't been in for a while, I just remember every time I went in they would sell lots of different stuff.
Must pop in and see what healthy cheap food they do, as they tend to stock some quite obscure food you can't find anywhere else.0 -
One in Jarrow, Newcastle. There is another store there called store 24 they are cheaper than B & M but sell mostly out of date stuff, even some things are 4 or 5 months out of date they still try sell them.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

Cleveleys was the first one opened (many years ago). There were some real bargains to be had then!! It was started by a brother and sister with the initials B&M but is no longer owned by them. It is the new owners who have expanded to everywhere.
I remember this one( I am from Fwd), I used to do all my Christmas shopping there as a kid, my Dad used to love his "soap on a rope" or Hai Karate lol, it used to be in a backstreet and now its huge !
I live in the Midlands now and we happened to pop in at the weekend for something and came out with a bunk bed for our two little girls, had been looking on Argos website and their price was about £200 - B & M Price £99 its up and it looks great
I love B & M0
