Does a family travelling together have to have insurance under one policy ? I have several preexisting conditions which really push up travel insurance if we do it this way. If i insure separately to my husband and kids and something does happen to me would their insurance pay out eg cancelling the trip for instance. Or is it better to insure together ? thanks in advance
Im going to ring insurance companies and get some more quotes tommorrow but just thought id ask the ?
thanks

In an ideal world its best to have cover with the same Insurer even if it is on seperate policies (You will find lots of the different schemes are actually underwritten by a handful of Insurers).
The advantage of the above is if you need to make a claim especially a complex medical claim its far easier to get it sorted out.
You definately have to declare your medical conditions to any Insurers even if the rest of your family take cover out on a seperate policy.0 -
Try essential travel - I got a great price from them a few years ago for family of 4 - I applied online then rang them with mine and hubby's medical conditions and they covered them for same price.0

The essential travel policy is underwritten by Axa and they are not great for travel claims, there is good advice on them by FH Brit in the Travel Forum on MSE0
