Why can't I save adobe acrobat files?

Just tried to save my recent British Gas bills (pdf). Open the bill into adobe ok but when I click the save button nothing happens. Have just got a new computer and was able to save on my old one, so not sure if I have some different settings. When I open the bill it appears within explorer and have adobe reader 9.0. Do I need an alternative copy of adobe?

  • Adobe Reader 9.1 has been released, which you could try, but I doubt it would make any difference. Here's a link to it:

Have you tried using save as? Just pressing save will probably just save it to the temporary folder which it was downloaded to.

Thansk for the reply. I think you maybe on the right path with the temporary folder but did a quick search and couldn't find any files. Had a quick go this morning at work and when I click on the view pdf, it opens a new box asking me whether to open or save it. I don't get this option at home whereby it just loads the pdf into explorer. As I said before I press the 'save' button but nothing seems to happen. All very strange.....
  • Hi,

why don't you try it with Foxit Reader, does the same job.

Yep, but it will be saved in a temp folder with an apparently random series of letters and numbers, so it's unlikely a search will be able to find it. If you can try save as, that's probably the best solution.
