Quickest way to scrap a car?

Just so I'm prepared for the eventuality of scrapping - what's the quickest way to get a car carted off and scrapped?
I wouldn't expect any cash as I know scrap metal isn't worth much any more, but would prefer the collection to be free if possible. I'd probably try take a good few bits off before it goes though, and would probably want the alloys off before it gets carted away.
Do I call around the local scrap yards listed in yellow pages? Or are sites like scrapcar.co.uk worth bothering with?

For me - maybe it depends on the area, don't know - but the garage that failed the car's MOT - got it picked up and taken away by a local scrap dealer at no cost - saved me a lot of hassle at the time.If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,

Offer it to your local Fire Station for them to practice roof removals. Or offer it to you local College to see if they do a course for budding mechanics.
Or, leave it outside with the keys in the ignition...0 -

I was just about to mention the fire station. I passed one today and they had a sign up asking for donations of cars.0 -

don't know where you live. but in derbyshire you can still get £100 a ton at the scrap yard. and they pay extra for alloy wheels. if you need it collecting they will still pay around £800

Think it is/was around £70 a ton up here just now too. You can tell when it's up, the pickups go around full of old metal.0

is it a cat-equipped vehicle? They pay money for the cats...
My last scrapper (not counting my recent write-off) I stripped to a shell, and then used the YP to find a collection agency..they came with a crane and took it. Nice and simple.0
