Epcot on New Years Eve

Ok before anyone says it I know NYE is over 9 months away but you have to plan these things!
Anyway I was in Orlando over last Christmas & New Year and enjoyed it so much I am going back again for the coming Christmas & New Year.
I have heard that Epcot is a good place to go on New Years Eve due to the various NYE celebrations for each county at the World Showcase. I tried go there last year for a meal at the Rose & Crown (I think that is what its called) in England but by the time I heard about it, it was fully booked. Therefore I don't want to miss out this year.
So my questions are this: -
1. Is Epcot really good for NYE?
2. From what date can you make reservations for the restaurants on NYE at Epcot?
3. How do I make a reservation, is there a phone number or web address to make bookings?
Many thanks for the anticipated help
Marcus

I havn't been on NYE, but been a few times on normal evenings.
If you are planning on actually watching the illuminations from the Rose and Crown you need to make sure you are seated outside in an area with unrestricted view . Not all are but I forget the exact layout.
If you have been to Rose and Crown before you'll know it's basically british pub food - bangers and mash etc. IIRC the last time I went (which is quite a few years ago now) I had some kind of Guiness steak pie. It was OK but nothing to rave about.0 -
I'm jealous, thats sounds like great fun. We had our first visit to Florida last summer and Epcot was my favourite park.
I gained loads of info from http://www.disboards.com/
We did the Illuminations Cruise where you are onboard a boat holding about 10 people and it parks up under the bridge just at the UK pavilion and you have a great view of the fireworks which I would imagine would be stunning for NY. They certainly were for 4th July.
They have lists on the disboards where people can join and share the costs of a cruise. I put up the number of our party and the fact we were from Scotland which I think made the difference in getting a fairly quick invitation to join a group. One of the American families had made the booking and all we had to do was keep in touch via email prior to our trip which helped us all get to know each other. We were three different families and we got together before the cruise for a meal and really enjoyed meeting with them.
I believe the Rose and Crown is one of the advantage points to view the fireworks, provided you can time your meal with the fireworks but I would definately recommend the cruise if you can get it booked. When I put my request in I just put up the dates we were there and any night would have suited, it may well be more difficult for a specific night and especially NY.0 -
The English pub food was rubbish,go around a bit further and eat at the Japanese restuarant, magical very nice and a elevated view of the lake.
We didn't book our just walked straight in.0 -
Thanks for all the responses.
Just one other question, I have read somewhere that as well as the midnight fireworks, they also celebrate NYE in each 'world' as the repective country reaches midnight in their local time.
Is this correct?
Thanks

you could try having dinner on the boardwalk as another option - it's right at the edge of epcot and has great views of the fireworks.:happyhear0

carcuscrae,
Hello.
Never been to Epcot over NYE , but have been there twice myself and found that if you sit in the Mexico part of the "World" , the place outside ( forget its name now ) like a Canteen place and get food from there , it is a fantastic view and is quite a great spot when it comes time to go home , as there is a short cut to get out !! As opposed to sitting right at the other end in Japan ( as suggested before ).
Both the times that we have been there , we get lovely Mexican food ( I MEAN LOVELY AND FRESH AND TASTY ) from this place mentioned and go and sit by the lagoon either on benches or even on the ground , this way you get chatting to people around you and get to know them. Surprisingly a lot of American families as well as people from all over the world. I could personally go there just to eat the lovely food !!!
I am sure the Pub will be great for you.
Either way , think about us all whilst you enjoy the brilliant firework display.0 -
Epcot was my fave too!0

Universal Studios takes some beating, we was there 3 years ago, Woooooow
The new years fireworks were unbelievable (or do they call them pyrotechnics)
The only bad point was we wondered why the locals went for preferred parking on the ground floor, an extra $5 or so, we found a spot right on the top the multi-storey car park thinking we had a good spot, but on return to our car in the early hours spent 1 hour queuing to get out.
:j We would do it all again, BUT preferred parking, we have never seen fireworks so good.:j!!!!!!There are More Questions Than Answers!!!!!!
