Royal Mail - a problem or normal?

I live in a house which is converted into 5/6 flats. We have a main door which is open to anyone which houses individual post boxes for each flat (they all lock).
I have been off work for the past month or so, so tend to notice when the post is delivered and go out and get mine. More often than not it hasn't been put in our individual boxes, but just chucked on the floor.
I wouldn't have known this as would usually have been at work and I assume one of my neighbours sorted the mail out (which I did this morning - so maybe the others aren't aware?)
Anyway, it doesn't bother me with junk mail, but my obvious concern is bank statements which I have found a couple of times just dumped inside the door. It's not a particularly busy road, but anyone who walked past could easily access the area without our knowledge.
Is it their job to put the mail in the correct postbox, or just deliver it to the premises? Is it worth popping an email/letter to Royal Mail to let them know?
Thanks for any help.

I would say yes it is. So long as they can get in i would want my post in my box! as like you said bank statements etc can get into the wrong hands if not put away. I would try and collar the postman or ring the local depo and have a word. Good luck x0

Complain to RM, keep complaining and get others in the building to complain.
Your post (wo)man is just damn lazy as they don't even have to walk up and downstairs.
I have now lived in 3 blocks of flats/converted houses where the individual flat front door had a letter box.
In one of them the post (wo)man decided repeatedly not to bother walking up and down the stairs to post the mail through the box and dumped it in the hall. Luckily everyone knew everyone else in the block so tended to post mail through others letter boxes.
So everyone started complaining to RM. After about 4 months of complaints by various people it got resolved.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Can I have your postwoman please?!
You'd think so wouldn't you? Instead I (we) end up doing it. Maybe I should mention in my email/letter that if the don't have time to deliver all the mail correctly, I could help. I am looking for work afterall...:pGrocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

It should definitely go in the individual boxes.Try and catch the postie and point out to him/her that you will be in touch with their delivery office manager if they dont do their job properly. It gives us all a bad name when this happens!!0
