Ebay Buying Rant

I usually sell on ebay but just recently have bought a few tops (4). I just wanted to get this off my chest because I'm so annoyed (a separate ebay rant thread would be nice!!).

I'm always very careful about buying anything and check ebayers have good feedback, which all of the sellers did (100% with good ratings).

2 of the items I bought were packaged really shoddily in my opinion, ie screwed up into a ball and put in an old tatty envelope without any kind of bubblewrap or bag to protect it etc in case the envelope got ripped. They then charged around £2-£3 on top of the price of the postage paid.

1 of the items was supposedly "hardly worn" but I beg to differ as the item looks in need of a wash.

The final item was described as brand new without tags but on receiving it all the labels inside have been cut. Why would they do this? This wasnt mentioned in the description, just that it was brand new. The top is also on the ridiculously small side soI now have to resell it (but I was the only bidder and dont have a brand name so probably wont get a sale).

Maybe I'm being too fussy but I always take care to wrap up clothes incase the packaging gets damaged. Nothing between the clothing and a thin tatty envelope seems risky.

I think next time I will spend more money and buy something that is definitely new (from a shop).

The reason for them cutting the labels off is so that you dont go and try and get a refund since the item is new. I have seen some sellers state this in the description. I suppose you should email the sellers and tell them you are unhappy, see if they are willing to refund. Then if they dont so anything, leave bad feedback.

My town has 2 factory shops where M&S, Dorothy Perkins, etc clothes are sold as slight seconds. The labels are cut out so you can't buy the item at £10 there and make a profit by returning to the store for £20.
  • I will have a rant with. I bought top that was new without tags and when it came it had smelt strongly of perfume and had two buttons hanging off.
Eventually got a refund from seller after opening a dispute as she would not give me a refund as she still insisted it was new.
Put me off buying from ebay!
  • Thanks for that, didnt realise shops did that. Would have been nice if the buyer had mentioned it in the description but hey-ho. Obviously if the top had fit it wouldnt matter but I doubt I will get a buyer for a non branded top whereby I was the only bidder previously.

Maybe we should start a rant thread, kind of feels better when you've got it off your chest lol.
