I'm afraid neither of you will be eligible for Adult Dependents Grant as you are both students.0

Both me and dh are students and we don't get adults dependants.0

Am I right in thinking that your husband will be studying part time?0

Student Support Regulations 2009
(Regulation 47(4))
1. An eligible student may not claim the ADG in respect of his or her partner, or for another adult dependant, if that partner or adult dependant is also an eligible student or holds a statutory award. An eligible student who cannot apply for the ADG in respect of his or her partner because the partner is also an eligible student or holds a statutory award can still apply for the ADG in respect of another adult dependant instead. Where an amount of ADG is being calculated in respect of another adult dependant it is to be reduced by one half if the eligible student’s partner is also an eligible student or holds a statutory award, and account is taken of the partner’s dependants in calculating the amount of support for which that partner qualifies or the payment to which that partner is entitled to under his or her statutory award.0 -
His is part time this year at college but we were looking at full time uni for next year. But now I am thinking its not such a good idea!
We will loose carers £84 pw
ISMP £70
and adult dep grant £ 2500 per yr.
That is over £200 per week.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -

Does he have the option of continuing with his course part time?0 -

But you'll both get full loans and grants from the LEA which is ~£6403 each and you won't have to pay council tax. And will get upto £2K in grants from your university each.
Edit: I've just got my notification for 09/10 and with full loans/grants I actually get £7989 + whatever I get through my university (£1295 last year). Which between you is over £300 a week.0 -
I think I need to weight it all up. Each yr is another £4.5 in student loans but part-time we will still get the carers allowance etc so no extra debt. DH can do his degree part-time so thats not a worry. i think I will have to go and see the finance office at uni and get some help on this one.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0

Are you likely to get the sort of jobs where making large payments on your student loan are likely to be a problem? You need to think about the payments, rather than the amounts borrowed.
What about when you're qualified, will this bring your household income over the point where your husband will have to pay part time fees.
How old will he be when he graduates (either full or part time)? If he's around 40, these extra years could make the difference between his finding a job or not.
There's lots of things to consider, not just the financial situation next year.0 -

Why only £4,500 student loans per year?0
