Next Directory withdraw credit facility

Next Directory have just told me they can no longer offer me a credit facility due to "adverse info from Equifax" The only thing is that there IS not adverse info on my credit files. Not even one late payment.
I'm getting really tired of Next. I've been with them about 4 months and during that time I've had 6 entirely different credit limits.
I have other catalogues and they never do this - my credit limits with them either stay the same or actually increase with time.
I have a Direct Debit set up with Next and have never missed a payment, so there is no issue with my account conduct
Anybody else had problems with them?

Next are notoriously difficult to deal with especially when it comes to changing people's credit limits.
I have read loads of people's posts complaining about either the removal of their credit facility or a change in their credit limit.
It may even come back next month. HTH0 -
Is there adverse info on the file of someone you are linked to?
Have you returned goods bought quite a bit?
They could have made up a reason like this.0 -
Have you any financial associations? This could be the cause.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!

I got the same letter a few months ago but a few weeks later Next increased my limit to £3500 before lowering it again to £15000

I have an ever changing credit limit from Next and it's been like that since I got the account years ago, on one such occasion my limit was over 9k. It now sits at a modest 3k now I think and my balance is around £550.
When I first opened the account apparently I was 2 months in arrears after about 4 months - my balance was £10.81. When I first checked my credit report it was too far back to track exactly why this had happened.
They also show me, without fail, paying late once per year although I don't think I've ever paid late.
Never hear a peep from them about my credit facility. Infact they did send me a letter last week reminding me to use my Directory Card.
I rarely send things back - If I do it's usually to replace it with a bigger/smaller size. Think I'm about to buy a new sofa from them actually.0 -
Look at the positives, it will save you loads of money. Catalogues are expensive ways to buy things.0

Well, I did a payment plan with them for nearly a year where they stopped the interest and paid them 20 pound a month. I then told them I was ok and wanted to resume normal payments, they did, immediately increased my limit from 400 pounds to 800, then a few months later to 1000 and 2 months ao from 1000 to 3600 and I have very bad credit and obviously they know I had difficulties in the last 18month, so god only knows how they work it out?Dmp Mutual Support thread member No 820

Making a profit by giving credit is a skilled occupation. There is no reason why tthe man, or on the Clapham omnibus, in the street should fully understand the intricacies of the system...0
